10/08/2024I love sweater tights that keep my muscles warm for class. I always purchase my stockings in a L/XL so I can pull them up high. These in a L are perfect & can roll over waist or pull them up.

04/01/2023Comfortable but a bit tight, I would recommend sizing up. I'm 5'6, 126 lbs and ordered in M, which feels just right but L would probably be slightly more comfortable.

Kalispell,MTThese are the most comfortable sweater tights i’ve worn. I could sleep in them. They fit so well that I can wear them under my leotard when it’s cold without feeling like I’m wearing bulky tights. I also wear them under jeans during the winter instead of long underwear since they are so warm and cozy. I have 2 in grey and am getting 2 more in black. Initially, I worried about the size, as I wear medium in most tights, but since I am tall(5’ 8”) decided to get the large. They can get just a little baggy while wearing them, but get back into shape after washing them. Having the right length was also more important to me. These are favorites for me and I hope that they continue making them.

Fort Worth,TXI love these tights. I bought a size S. I'm 5'4" and about 110 lbs. These fit great and are super cozy. They are prefect for warm ups over a leotard. They recommend sizing up, and if you want to wear these pulled over your shoes, you might need too. I can pull mine over my shoes, but the extra length from sizing up would have been nice. I kept the size small though. They are reenforced at the bottom seem. I' glad I got these and will probably buy another color.

12/10/2019I am very sad to agree with another reviewer, because the quality of these sweater tights has changed for the worse. I have several older pairs and they are perfect for colder weather. I am able to keep them on for the entire duration of the class without overheating. The fabric on the old tights is soft and stretchy and very pleasant to touch.
The new pair appears to have more nylon-like fiber in them. They are shinier and less stretchy and less soft. There is a cold feeling to them. I am curious to see how these perform in terms of warmth retention.
I may still keep them, because this is the only product of this kind on the market. But then again, I may not. At this price, I am rather disappointed in GM changing their product.

11/20/2019I LOVE THESE SWEATER TIGHTS! They fit so comfortably and don't pinch me at the waist. They're a little bit more like warm up pants than tights (in the thickness) but I love them!
For reference

11/09/2019I love these sweater tights but they aren't the most durable. I havn't even put them in the wash yet (the ultimate test for clothes) and there are already loose threads at the ankle. Considering that sweater tights in general easily snag, I would still recommend these tights.

09/14/2017Just got these in the mail the other day and tried them on. They seem really comfortable and that they will actually keep my legs warm. Now that I'm getting older, my muscles don't stay warm and flexible like they used to. It sucks haha! I'm hoping that these will help keep my muscles warm during the cold midwest winters.

08/02/2017I purchased some of these sweater tights from DD and another dance wear shop over the last few years and they are all so soft and wonderful quality. Definitely 5 star. I am now very sorry that I waited to buy extras. The sweater tights are now not nearly as soft, so I returned them, and I am hoping that if I try again in the future, the quality might be back to what it was before which earned these tights so many 5 star reviews. If I can find any with the old quality I'll get extras! Sadly, I've noticed some other dancewear and skatewear companies having the same issue with material quality deteriorating on items I had ordered before and loved. In each case the fabric is not nearly as soft or luxurious, and in at least one case, not as durable. So disappointing.
Note- I compared several pairs of brand new sweater tights that had never been washed with my recent order. So it could not have been washing that caused the difference in softness between older tights and the current ones being sold.
Hello. The manufacturer may have changed the way the garment is constructed but not the quality. We will address this incident with them and make them aware of quality issue. One of our Customer Service representatives will contact you to rectify the situation.

01/24/2017I wear these over my regular tights on chilly days during warmup. They provide ample stretch and can be worn low around ankles if desired. I usually have to take them off after a few minutes at the barre because I get too warm, but they go on and off easily.
I also find them helpful for rehearsal days when I might be starting and stopping a sequence frequently (dance, stop, stand, listen, dance, stop, etc etc etc). I stay warm enough when not moving but not overheated when dancing.
The color is beautiful (I purchased amethyst), and stays after washing a few times. The fabric is very soft and semi-opaque. The waistband holds but is not too tight. My only negative for these tights is that I had a bit of unraveling at the bottom, but it didn't ruin the tights.

02/07/2016At first I was not sure of its price (a little too high than I would like). But I liked the style and the look on the website. These tights are soft and seem durable. I wore them over my leotard in my class (I think they would be a bit too thick to my liking if wore inside a leo) and liked them more. They are definitely warm and comfortable.

01/26/2016Sweater have become my new best friend! As I've gotten older it takes me longer to warm up, so for a while I was wearing the Bloch warm up pants. I liked them, but they were so baggy and bulky I felt strange wearing them in my very classical studio. So I decided to grab a pair of sweater tights instead, and I have been so happy with them. Now I actually get warm during class, and I don't feel strange about wearing them, because they just look like tights. The best would be if they came in a pink so it looked like you were just wearing normal ballet tights, but the black looks alright. I loved them so much I bought three more black, two blue, and one charcoal, and they all look fantastic! I bought some for all my friends for Christmas and they are addicted now too, one of them told me yesterday that she was going to buy some more for when hers were in the wash! :)

11/29/2015I love these so very much!
They are comfortable, soft, and warm. Perfect to warm your muscles up before a class or performance.
These are so soft and nice I wear them at home and even layer them under clothes when I know I'g going to be out in the freeze for a while.
These stretch a ton (both length and width wise) because of the loose knit, but that also means they can snag more easily! I dont mind that so much... If i need a fresh pair, these are lovely enough to buy a new pair. :)

09/28/2015My friends and the other girls at my studio all have these sweater tights and I have been dying to get a pair. I finally couldn't wait til my birthday and just bought myself some. 11/15/2014I purchased two pairs of these tights about 8 years ago when I was dancing in college, and was immediately impressed with them. They're so warm, soft and fit perfectly over my heel so that I could do anything in them. I would often put them on as warm ups and then keep them on all day through 3-5 college level classes. They'd just be so comfortable and warm and made transitions between classes so easy that it just made sense to keep them on!
The main reason that I'm writing this review now, is because I still wear these tights on a very regular basis (2-3 times a week) during the colder months even though I no longer dance. Since then, I've obviously gained a few pounds and they still fit like I just got them. They're so warm, and layer extremely well (even under skinny jeans)! They keep their elasticity extremely well and don't bag or sag in the crotch like other products that I've tried. They even wash well in the regular washer and dryer! They're the best warm layer clothes that I own and I've tried many name brand products throughout the years, especially since I looked for these tights online a couple of years ago and couldn't find them. I'm so happy that they're back up for sale, and will be purchasing some directly after submitting this review!

11/12/2014I've been wanting a pair of these sweater tights and I decided to give these a try. I was very impressed! They are really soft and more comfortable than I expected. I wore them over my tights for ballet class, and ended up not taking them off because they kept me pretty warm throughout the class, not to mention they were so comfortable I didn't want to take them off! Got them in black in a size large - I am 5'8" and they were long enough for me to keep over my heels. I will definitely look into buying in another color - great to have for the winter!

11/08/2014I own a number of GM items, several leotards and their silk blend pants and was sweater. These tights are just as soft as the silk blend items. Now I have very long limbs, my inseam is 37". Despite that I manage to wear GM tights, and the pants (with a little stretching) fit fine as well. Even the wrap sweater has long enough arms (barely but they're longer than every other brand). These tights however are more like capris on me. They literally stop mid calf. I thought they'd at least hit closer to my ankle given the model is wearing them over her foot and this brand seems to run long. No luck with these unfortunately. I'm still very happy with them though and I'll probably buy more in the future. They seem like they're the same sturdy quality as the rest of GM's clothing and you can't complain about a product you know will last years just by looking at it.

11/07/2014I love these tights. I wear them with a leo to class, but also at home with a long sweater since they are so warm and comfy. Good length too, they reach below the ankle when most other sweater tights don't reach that far down on me but keep coming up while dancing. One thing, though, is that they do have a pretty large under sewing at the inside and so it is a pretty raw look, but I like that sort of thing in warm up and class.

08/15/2014So, let me start off by saying that I have owned these tights for roughly 2 years now, and wear them on a weekly basis from november through february. There is only minor pilling on them, and no rips or tears. There is maybe a small decrease in elasticity, but then again, it has been two years! These tights are amazingly comfortable and body hugging, and they offer the perfect amount of warmth. In the winter, I can keep them on for the whole class. If I wear them in the summer, I often take them off before center. These run true to size with other gaynor minden tights, and I have no problem getting them over my leotard and tights. The waistband isn't too tight, but still stays in place; needless to say, these are a favorite, and I look forward to ordering another color soon as I only own the black.

07/18/2014I am obsessed with these tights. They are warm but not hot, so I can leave them on all during class, they look great, they aren't too tight and work perfectly over my ballet tights, and I get compliments on them all the time! I have a pair in black but I just ordered my second pair in charcoal. I wear them everyday!! Love!!

07/03/2014From someone who hates the feeling of tights on her legs, but loves not to have to look at her pasty white legs all through class, these sweater tights are a godsend. Tonight I wore them over my leotard and they provide enough coverage so I don't feel naked, but not so much that it reduces my flexibility or ability to see what my muscles are doing in the mirror. They are comfy (so comfy) very good-looking and warm too. I thought they would be loopier actually from the description and the picture. These are very finely waled knit, and just so well-made. I am 5'7 and 120 pounds and I bought a large - perfect fit, enough at the ankle to wear over the foot, and close fitting to the body without being too tight. I am going to buy a pair in every color. These are the gray and they are even kind of silvery - not too dark. I am soooo happy with these.

06/25/2014I can't gush enough about these tights. This is my third pair, and not because the other two are worn out. I wanted the Charcoal so much I left them on a backorder for a couple of months.
These tights are lightweight, flattering, warm but not too hot, and have the perfect amount of stretch. I am 5'2" and 98 lbs, and I wear the S/M with plenty of length in the legs...I like them fitted but slouchy, and these are exactly that. The waistband is exceedingly comfortable left high or folded down. I wear these tights both as a warmup and by themselves over a leo.
The only 'age' that shows on GM sweater tights after months of wear is a little pilling and subtle amount of stretching...neither of which detracts at all from their overall durability or appearance.

06/06/2014I started collecting warmups 6 months ago, and now I just can't get them enough. These are perfect! It's tight, so teachers can see your form clearly, and it's thin but you can move freely. I had some problems with other warmups do not stretch enough (and I am not even that flexible!) and had to stitch up few times. Gaynor Minden products are very durable, and this is also great! I am 5'4" 103 pounds and got a medium as they suggested, and they fit me perfectly!
I wear them over my tights and unlike other people said, I can actually keep them on the whole class. Then again, I like to stay warm, so it can just be my preference.
I highly recommend these!

05/18/2014I love these pants so much. In winter I wear them during pliés and they keep my knees, hips and ankles very insulated and warm. They sometimes get too hot, though . I love the roll-over waist and the fact that you can tuck these into booties or regular boots. I recommend these to dancers who get cold easily. Great buy!

03/24/2014I got these to replace my old woolies. I love the feel of them. They are not as scratchy and they stay in place. I would recommend them to anyone who spends more than two hours a day in a studio the way most instructors do. I already plain to order another pare.

03/21/2014I am 5'5" and I weigh 115 pounds. I ordered a size Small.
These tights are so awesome. When Gaynor Minden stopped selling them, I was so upset. But now they are back! They are super flattering on anyone. Everyone in my level wears them and they look super professional (the Black ones). I am so happy with these tights! No complaints! Some dancers wear them with no tights underneath, some dancers wear them with pink tights underneath. I wear them with both options. If you don't like to sweat duing class, then I would suggest wearing tights underneath so you can take them off if you get to hot. Hope you guys buy these!

11/17/2013iI was excited that they brought these back and I could replace my beloved Gaynor Minden woolies that are now mostly holes! So i was Dissappointed to read that these are acrylic, but purchased them anyway, hoping that they would be the same quality. They aren't; they are not as stretchy, soft and breathable as the wool were. They are scratchy. I am considering sending them back.

09/28/2013What has not yet been said in praise of these perfect warm up tights? Neither too bulky nor too sheer, soft as a lamb, but not nearly as scratchy as even my super expensive Wolfords. 09/07/2013I bought one in black a few years ago, and I love it! Super soft, SUPER slimming (especially in the black!) super comfortable to dance in!
I would sometimes wear this over a leotard (so without the usual ballet pink tights). love it!
My black one is a tad pilly (don't remember how I washed it), and I didn't wear it THAT often, but it's still soft and I enjoy using it.
I decided to go for a second one in charcoal because I liked it so much. I'm not 100% sure, but compared to the first one when I first got it, I think it's less soft. I'm not sure if it's the color that makes the difference or that they made them softer in the past, but I would still recommend these warm up tights!
Fits true to size, but you can even size up to get more strechiness. The material doesn't bag, so it'll just fit more comfortably, especially if you're tall.

12/23/2009These soft, fuzzy, stretchy "tights" are really lightweight leggings. I was nervous about the wool content but they're not at all scratchy -- they feel like cashmere, really. I'm 5'4" and 125 pounds and ordered a large so I could wear them over leotard and tights. A medium would have fit but the large feels good for an over-layer. They're a lot less bulky and coarse than my cotton KDdance legwarmers but they're just as warm and more slimming. You can pull the waist up to the ribs or fold them down to the hips--the waistband isn't constricting. I just ordered two more pairs!

Paso Robles,I bought these about a month ago and they have turned out to be a treasure. They are soft and warm, but very thin so they don't add bulk. I am 5'5" and I got the Medium which fits nicely, with plenty of stretch for all the movement necessary in dance. I wear them to teach in and they keep me warm while still allowing my students to see what I'm doing with my legs. I am almost tempted to get another pair because I'm afraid they will stop making them or change them, as so often happens with special products you discover.

10/12/2009These tights are wonderful. So soft and really keep you warm, but not so much that you're uncomfortable throughout class. I'm 5'6, 125 lbs, with a long torso and I like my black tights to come up high on my rib cage, so I ordered a large. They're perfect.

02/18/2009I love these tights. They're soooo soft and super warm for the beginning of class, but they breathe so that I can wear them for the entire class comfortably. The waistband sits comfortably around your chest/waist/hips (however you choose to wear them) without squeezing you or digging in, but without falling down. I love that they're long enough to pull over my feet. They keep their shape wonderfully (I've worn them for 3 full classes so far, and they haven't stretched out at all), so anyone who says that they stretch out and get baggy easily probably got a pair that was too small for them. I'm 5'7" and 105 lbs (size 0 or 24 in jeans) and a size Large is perfection.

San Francisco, Ca,Just got them today. Was worried they would be too long for me - I'm 5'3", about 120 lbs., long torso but shorter legs. However, the length is perfect. I can wear them ankle length or pulled over my heels, either way leaving room to roll over the top over my hips. Not as sheer as the photo makes them seem, but may have to do with the size. Thin, soft, I can tell these will keep me warm.

Ohio,I recommend these because they're simply the best: soft, warm, snug but not constricting, breathable, lightweight, with full freedom of movement and your lines can still be clearly seen. Perfection! They also work great as a base layer for winter sports like skiing, snowboarding and dog-sledding! Just be careful how you wash them; always hand wash or use the gentle cycle, or else they pill and get very fuzzy very quickly (I stupidly ruined my first pair this way). But on a cold day, popping these in the dryer for a few minutes before you put them on can leave you nice and toasty for hours :)

10/16/2008One of the BEST dancewear investments you can make!!! These wash and wear beautifully, are slimming and keep you perfectly warm. 03/28/2008I had a similar pair for about 10 years until I accidentally left them behind and they "disappeared." I wore those to most every class over leotard and pink tights. These replacements are even better, since there are no side seams, and the knit is finer and silkier. I'm 5'5" and 124 pounds and got the large, but medium might have been okay too.

Slippery Rock, Pa,I bought these tights because of the good reviews that I found on here, and they don't lie! They're so soft and comfortable and they don't fall down. They're warmer than regular leg warmers but they don't get too hot and you can wear them for the entirety of a class. Plus, they make your legs look amazing! Plenty of length (which is rare for me in anything). All in all, they are a great product at a great price.

04/28/2007I live in these at dance!!! They are so comfortable and warm and fit well. My dance teachers love them as well because they can still see my body, even though they are a warm-up! I ordered a second pair though because mine are starting to get grungy. Highly recommended!

Chicago, Il,These are one of my favorite pair of warmers. They are lightweight and very warm. The fabric is so soft. They always look great and never sag (making you look like you're wearing a diaper). They are a great buy. I really want to get another pair. I highly recommend them.

12/30/2006I absolutely adore these legwarmers! They are so soft and really do have a slimming effect! Sometimes when I go through catalogues and find an item that claims to have a slimming effect, I am skeptical. When I got these...WOW...that is all I have to say. They work miracles!

11/21/2006These are really good tights for warming up at the beginning of class or for during a rehearsal, when you are not dancing the whole time. I love these.

Illinois,Had a pair for about a year -just bought 3 more pairs (in case they do something dumb like discontinue them). These are warm, but not too warm, and not bulky or itchy, look GREAT, feel great - not binding or baggy - they're just fantastic. I love that they're long enough to pull them down over the heels for warmth and a nice line!

Washington,I was looking for something that would help warm up my thighs and hips and these work great! Very comfy, very warm, and they fit wash after wash. I also found that with some other legwarmers/knit tights, it would itch my bear skin. I've had no problems with these, I even like to wear them under other clothes to keep warm in the winter.
